Minor Resolved

Elevated latency to the Gulf states from AMS

Network — transit & peering — AMS

Timeline

  1. Resolved

Latency to the Gulf states is back to its usual level. Duration: 1 h 14 min. Throughput was not affected; only the round trip on that path was.

  2. Monitoring

The direct peering route has been re-announced. We have removed our preference and are watching latency settle.

  3. Identified

A peer on AMS-IX has withdrawn its direct route to the Gulf states and traffic is taking a detour via Lumen. This is a routing choice on their side, not a fault on ours. We have preferred Arelion for those prefixes, which brings the round trip back within 10 ms of normal.

  4. Investigating

Round-trip times from AMS to the Gulf states are 29 ms above their usual level. The path goes over AMS-IX; nothing has changed on our side. We are checking whether a peer has moved traffic onto a longer path.
